Driving as Meditation
While we can’t extinguish the analytical mind, nor would we want to, we seek to balance our life and harmonize the components of our being. We seek to bring unity to ourselves, our mind, body, and spirit.
If we can quiet the mind to the point that we can experience the moment in a relaxed, non-judgemental, mindfully aware way, we have put ourselves into reality. Once this reality is experienced it changes everything. We learn that we are not our thoughts, opinions, fears, anger, jealousy, or emotions. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Once this reality is established it becomes perfectly clear to us that with practice, we can dwell in reality whenever we want to. All we have to do is choose to, and practice getting there. There is no greater gift we can give ourselves.
I practice in my car everyday. On the drive to work, going to the store, driving home, anytime I sit behind the wheel. This is my time to practice.
